The Star Kingdom Stakes – formerly known as the Sebring Stakes – is a Group 3 race for sprinters run at Rosehill Gardens Racecourse in late March on Tancred Stakes Day.

Gerald Ryan & Sterling Alexiou’s progressive Russian Revolution four-year-old, General Salute ($4.40F), was impressive winding up late down the outside with a good run to wear down the front runners and get up right on the line to salute for the punters in the 2025 Star Kingdom Stakes results.

Offering $250,000 in prize money the 1200m event is run under quality handicap conditions and takes place at the same Sydney Autumn Racing Carnival meeting as the Group 1 Tancred Stakes (2400m) and Group 1 Vinery Stud Stakes (2000m).
Horses in the Star Kingdom Stakes field may be heading towards a Group 1 run later in the autumn or in the Brisbane Winter Carnival. In 2016 the Star Kingdom Stakes winner Malaguerra won the Group 1 BTC Cup (1200m) in May and also took out the spring’s Group 1 Darley Classic (1200m) at Flemington over the Melbourne Cup Carnival.
A nice lead-up race to the Star Kingdom Stakes is the Group 3 Maurcie McCarten Stakes (1100m) held at the track a fortnight earlier.
During the autumn many Star Kingdom Stakes graduates step-up in distance for a shot at the Group 1 All Aged Stakes (1400m) at Randwick in April, a race the 2107 winner Jungle Edge ran third in next race.
The Star Kingdom Stakes form was franked in 2021 when the winner Signore Fox went on to run third in both the Group 1 Kingsford-Smith Cup (1300m) and Group 1 Stradbroke Handicap (1400m) in Brisbane that winter.
In 2023 the Star Kingdom Stakes third place-getter Coal Crusher went on to run well in a host of subsequent events including winning Newcastle’s $1 million The Hunter that November.
The Star Kingdom Stakes 2025 ran on Tuesday April 1, 2025 at Rosehill Gardens as part of Tancred Stakes Day after being postponed due to heavy rainfall in Sydney on Saturday and saw the favourite General Salute ($4.40F) come with a big run late down the outside to make it back-to-back wins.

Bit worried about the track conditions with this horse preferring dryer ground, but at the 25/1 price at time of publish willing to go out on a limb and suggest FELIX MAJESTIC (5) can surprise a few. Gary Nickson’s Smart Missile five-year-old has strong previous four at the track and trip and always goes well at Rosehill (11:4-0-1). Hasn’t won since December of ’23 which helps explain the pricing but has been competitive of late. In November was runner-up to Briasa in The Hunter, the winner of which ran a competitive fourth in the Group 1 The Galaxy here last weekend. This horse resumed in the Group 3 Maurice McCarten and ran well enough for fourth to Eagle Nest when finishing strongly from the home turn to the winning post. Improves second-up and has won second-up in the past. Will enjoy going to 1200m and comes back two kilos. Don’t discount.

Star Kingdom Stakes History
The Star Kingdom Stakes has been run and won since 1979, and the inaugural winner was The Judge. Since then, quality sprinters including Mustard (2006), Swift Alliance (2010-11), Flamberge (2014), and Malaguerra (2016) have added their names to the list of Star Kingdom Stakes winners.
Also known in recent years as the Sebring Stakes (2010-2014), the event is named in honour of five-time Leading Australian sire Star Kingdom whose progeny won the first five editions of the Golden Slipper Stakes. The race has been contested over both 1100m and 1200m.
In 2022 the Star Kingdom Stakes was moved from Rosehill on Saturday the 26th of March to Newcastle on Monday the 28th of March due to unsafe Heavy track conditions and rainfall.
