2025 Ladbrokes Queensland Derby Field & Odds Update: Statuario Narrow Favourite

UPDATE: 2025 Queensland Derby Day at Eagle Farm Postponed After Race 5 including Ladbrokes Queensland Derby.

UPDATE: Due to visibility concerns forcing Saturday’s Eagle Farm meeting abandonment, both the Group 1 Queensland Derby and G1 Kingsford Smith Cup have been rescheduled to run next Saturday, June 7, creating a spectacular triple-feature alongside the G1 Queensland Oaks!

Emma-Lee & David Browne‘s classy grey Statuario holds narrow favouritism in the latest Ladbrokes Queensland Derby 2025 betting markets ahead of the Eagle Farm feature this Saturday in Brisbane.

The final field for this season’s Group 1 $1 million Ladbrokes Queensland Derby (2400m) is now out with a capacity line-up of three-year-old winter staying types in the mix for the lucrative mile and a half feature.

Following an eye-catching second in Morphettville’s Group 1 South Australian Derby (2500m) behind Femminile on May 3, D’Argento gelding Statuario heads to the sunshine state looking to go one better in the Queensland equivalent.

He sits on the top line of Queensland Derby betting at $6 through race sponsor Ladbrokes.com.au drawn a dream in gate five with John Allen retaining the ride.

Prior to his Group 1 test in Adelaide, he won a Caulfield race over the 2400m by over two lengths and so is proven at the distance and presents fit.

The danger following closely at Queensland Derby odds of $6.50 is the nicely bred Tivaci gelding King Of Thunder drawn wider out in gate 14 for jockey Mark Zahra.

The consistent John O’Shea & Tom Charlton trained galloper has winning form up to 1900m and brings in some strong form lines.

Two back he ran a credible fifth in the Group 1 Australian Derby (2400m) in Sydney behind the runaway filly Aeliana before a last start Group 3 Rough Habit Plate (2000m) – a race that has produced plenty of recent Queensland Derby champions – third in the wet at Doomben.

Easing in the markets now out to $8.50 to be the first Queensland Derby winning filly since Dariana in 2010 is Belle Detelle.

Belle Detelle is out to be the first filly to win the Queensland Derby since Dariana in 2010!

She is drawn out in gate 21 which will become 16 at best of all the emergencies fail to gain a run.

Prepared by three-time Queensland Derby winning trainer Chris Waller, the Group 3 Adrian Knox Stakes winning daughter of Zed ran fifth two back behind the smart Treasurethe Moment in the Group 1 Australian Oaks (2400m) at Randwick.

At her latest she finished sixth in the Rough Habit under three lengths beaten on the Heavy (8) with improvement expected back up in distance on a firmer track this Saturday.

In his hunt for a fourth win in the race and first since Kovalica (2023), Waller has four final acceptors with three confirmed a start.

ing Belle Detelle in the starting line-up are the stable’s shock 60/1 Rough Habit Plate winner Imperialist ($15) who is out to do the double for the first time since Dark Dream (2018) and the inform Existential Bob ($26) chasing a hat-trick.

Other Queensland Derby contenders being kept safe in the markets include the rails-drawn Ocean Park gelding Party Crasher ($10) chasing his fourth win from six career starts, Phillip Stokes‘ South Australian Derby winning filly Femminile ($10), progressive Super Seth gelding Maison Louis ($13), and recent ATC Derby runner-up Firm Agreement ($15).

The 2025 Ladbrokes Queensland Derby is set to run as Eagle Farm Race 8 at 3:52pm (AEST) on Saturday’s nine-race card.
